Summer Readings

21:48

So a couple of weeks ago I decided to do a post about the books that I have read during my holiday as I am such a book lover! Sadly I don't always find time to let myself get comfy and read with a cup of tea. But summer is just meant for these kind of things! And I obviously packed my suitcase with books and too many pairs of shoes - no wonder I went over the limit. But you can never know what you might need while being away from all of your treasures (might not be the best attitude to life to be honest)... So as I knew I would have to spend hours and hours on planes, buses and trains or waiting for those to come, I packed three books: All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, Just One Day by Gayle Forman and I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson .

And now a few words about each one of them!

All The Bright Places

This is one is my absolute favourite this summer. I found out about it from one of Zoella's channel videos, it was in her June favourites if I am not mistaken. The story line of the book is based on two teenagers who meet each other at the top of a tower, both about to commit suicides. It is about love, struggle and a serious illness. I am the biggest fan of these kind of novels if I am being honest. I laughed and tried to keep my tears at some points...

I even wrote down a quote from it. Even though I never do this. It is just that I could feel those emotions taking over me.

"One of those moments that you have after losing someone - when you feel as if you've been kicked in the stomach and all your breath is gone, and you might never get it back."

And I definitely know the feeling. Too well...

Just One Day

A story of a young and not very adventurous girl who takes a risk and does something unplanned and totally offhand and has the best day of her life. After reading other books written by G. Forman I got really excited about this book when i read its back cover. The stories of I Was Here and If I Stay (there is a movie with the same name. I cried my eyes out while watching it...seriously, heartbreaking and very emotional!) created by the same author were so incredible, I could hardly take my hands off them. With this book, however, I felt like the story was written very protractedly. But this is just the first book of a trilogy and as the end of the first one was quite intriguing, I am away to go and purchase the second one! And again, I could relate to this book a bit too well at some points, which was mostly causing the frustration...

"I have a full life. How can I be this empty? Because of one guy? Because of one day?"

I'll Give You The Sun

The story is about twin who were incredibly close their whole lives until a tragedy drew them apart. The manner that the book is written in is pretty different from the other two, it is easy to read and get involved with the story. The story is being told by both characters and chapter are about different periods of their lives which intrigues even more as the moment you know something everything changing is about to happen, the story line shifts onto the other character and a different time. The way book is presented is incredible - it has black splashes of paint all over pages, parts of sentences and phrases written all over the pages.
