Love Stories in the Clouds

21:25

We all have heard those stories - people unexpectedly meeting the love of their lives, falling in love from the first sight, growing old together or sharing hopes and dreams with a total stranger, a passenger sitting next to you on a plane and creating an ever lasting bond. There are numerous books written and countless movies based on those stories; basically all those incredible, either true or false love tales create the main foundation for the whole romantic comedy genre. As cheesy and soppy all of this might sound, I am a hopeless romantic. The whole studying abroad situation has created circumstances for witnessing endless sad goodbyes and cheerful welcomes in different locations, seeing people crying due to saying goodbye to their beloved ones, or seeing them again after a long time, girls crying over their boyfriends going away and boys trying to be manly and strong. All those tears become intimidating, no doubt. Don't get me wrong, I occasionally have a tear or the whole tone of them running down my cheek while flying back and forth, it is not that easy...

But just like I said, I am a hopeless romantic and I had a chance to witness this incredibly lovely occurrence on a plane on my way home for a holiday. This story is not the kind you could base a movie on, but the kind that I felt that had to be shared. I was sitting on a plane, a seat next to the window, waiting for the boarding to finish. After some time of me sitting with my nose in a book, an old couple sat next to me. They were both in their sixties, the man had lush eyebrows reaching the sky and the woman, on the contrary - two thin lines drawn on her forehead with a light brown pencil, which I found quite amusing, as if their eyebrows supplemented each other. When all the necessary safety instructions were given and all the formalities were dealt with, the plane started moving. While we were riding towards the runway, I glanced at the couple next to me. The man was away to take his wife's hand into his, but the moment he reached out, she crossed her arms on her chest and made this stubborn face and for a second I could see her being 17, freshly in love and pretending to be mad at the boy who is trying to make it up to her and make a simple gesture of holding her hand (a true fan of holding hands right here, people!!). I realised that this is what you call true love - when even being 60 years old, your better half can make you feel like a teenager all over again.

Seriously, I am a hopeless romantic...

So yeah, Love Stories in the Clouds, in airports, buses and trains. Let's just hope that all these things continue to happen and the characters in those lovely stories have more luck than me.
